Well this was done for Bring Literature to Life Contest.
Basically, if anyone has read something about Edgar Allen Poe I believe you have learned who Ellenore is. For those who haven't read anything, I recommend that you do.
Here is a small explanation, nonetheless:
Firstly, I believe Poe's muse was actually this personage because she is used in his story 'Ellenore' and later in his famous poem 'The Raven'.
In the story, Ellenore is described as the most beautiful lady. She was so pretty that whatever she touched bloom into something exquisite. She had a 'lover' (whom we do not know the name of and is the narrator) and when disease size her, she makes him bind himself to her with a promise of not looking for another woman and staying where he is (in an abandoned forest, which, after Ellenore's death, withers away). In exchange for his promise, Ellenore 'stays' with him letting him know her presence through unnatural signs (such as the wind or a flower).
By the end of the story, nevertheless, he leaves the forest intent on forgetting her (he is in pain) and after a while finds himself another wife. He states that Ellenore sent, after that, no more signs.
Yet, in his poem the raven. He asked the raven, who only croak: nevermore, if he is Ellenore. And we are left with the idea that she has come to visit him as a raven.
In my work, I decided to include the scene of her death. The two models are supposed to be the death Ellenore and his lover. Meanwhile, the woman in the window is Ellenore's ghost, which seeking the help of the raven, prepares to send her signs.
Very cool. I love the whole concept, and how you worked both works into it.
Just a question though, in the Raven isn't it Lenore?
Haha, anyways, regardless I like it.
Thanks for the entry!
